Thursday, April 30th, 2009

Can my built-in wireless card in my laptop connect to 3G?

Answer:

Some laptops do come with a built in 3G adapter, but typically you will have an 802.11g WiFi card. 3G is an internet service provided by cell phone companies and typically require a special card.
What the typical WiFi card will do for you is allow you to connect to your Internet Router without needing wires. You will need to get a wireless router.
Typically these devices are easy to setup. You may want to consult a professional if you have trouble.
Check back next week for a tip on securing your wireless connection.
